The Carolina Asia Center accepts applications from scholars, mid- to senior-level professionals and governmental officials interested in conducting Asia-related research at UNC-Chapel Hill. The CAC provides an opportunity for scholars to access and use the extensive collection of resources available at the UNC-Chapel Hill to carry out independent research projects. Resources for Scholars include access to UNC libraries, UNC OneCard (University ID Card) and email address, and ability to audit UNC courses with the permission of the instructor.
Korea Research Fellows
The Korea Research Fellows program is a visiting scholar program at the Carolina Asia Center with a focus on Korean studies in all disciplines. Led by two UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, this program offers visiting scholars with Korean research interests strong opportunities for mentoring and academic research. Resources for Fellows include active mentoring by faculty coordinators, engagement in regular seminar meetings led by faculty coordinators, and networking with faculty and graduate students at UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University.
Research Affiliates
This program is geared toward local scholars who are working on Asia and interested in collaborating with UNC-Chapel Hill. The Carolina Asia Center provides access to library resource materials at UNC for such scholars to conduct Asia-related research. To apply, you must be a scholar with a Ph.D. or in at least your 3rd year of doctoral studies. Preference is given to scholars who currently hold a teaching position.
UNC System Asia Scholar Network
The UNC System Asia Scholar Network exists to create a community of scholars working on Asia-related topics across the 16 UNC system campuses. We build on the strengths of each college and university in the UNC system, providing scholars with opportunities to network, share information and collaborate. Ultimately, we also hope to improve access to resources for the study of Asia and spark collaboration in the field of Asian studies in the state of North Carolina.
